Texas state Rep. Molly White, R-Belton, thinks it’s time for Congress to impeach President Obama. From her Facebook page on Monday:
“If Obama entertains the MB [Muslim Brotherhood, presumably], arms terrorist, ignores terroristic attacks on American soil, appoints Muslims to serve on Homeland security positions, releases terrorists from Gitmo… Shouldn’t he be arrested and tried for treason against the US? Makes sense to me.”
Eagle-eyed James Russell at the Dallas Voice discovered White’s Facebook post and writes more about it here. But it wasn’t White’s only ridiculous post of the day on this subject. Shortly after, she put up another that supposedly includes a quote from Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Obama:
“I am a Iranian by birth and of my Islamic faith. I am also an American Citizen and I seek to help change America to be a more Islamic country. My faith guides me and I feel like it is going well in the transition of using freedom of religion in American against itself.”
White comments in her post:
“Confirmation. Treason changes [sic] must be brought forth.”
Yeah, good luck with that. The “quote” from Jarrett is an absurd fabrication that’s been making the rounds on far-right websites for a while now. Jarrett simply didn’t say it (or anything like it). But White was gullible enough to buy the lie and is now promoting it.
This isn’t the first time White has taken to social media to stir up anti-Muslim bigotry. In January of this year White posted on Facebook that she had instructed staff to ask Muslim Americans visiting her office on Texas Muslim Capitol Day “to renounce Islamic terrorist groups and publicly announce allegiance to America and our laws.”
White later blamed “political correctness” for the backlash over her comments. Even Republican House Speaker Joe Straus was critical of what White did, reminding lawmakers that “(t)he Texas Capitol belongs to all the people of this state, and legislators have a responsibility to treat all visitors just as we expect to be treated — with dignity and respect.”
But White still can’t seem to control her seething hatred of Muslims — or of President Obama.

Just when I thought that I had heard everything that a politician could possibly say. I was, of course, wrong.
It took a special kind of blowhard to say what Trump said.
How DARE he try to even think that any religion should be exempted from our nation. Contrary to his beliefs ALL religions are welcome in the United States.
There is not a single religion that has not at one time or another done things for which they are embarrassed later on. So it is today with radical Islam. Radical ANYTHING is a horrible way to express one’s faith if, indeed, that is what they are doing.
I was just released from a hospital after eleven days recovering from my 6th heart attack. I was taken care of by Indians, a Seik, a few Muslims…they were interested in my healing and I was, of course, also interested in my recovery.
Should I have refused their help? Please, don’t insult me.
Trump is a child with a child’s outlook on life. Should he be considered for the most important office in the world? My answer is a very fast NO. Who does he think he is to tell an entire people that they are not welcome in this country?
He has never bothered reading the Constitution because he could not have said that and ignored it.
The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion…
No person can decide to tell any religion that they are not welcome in this country. In other words, bye-bye Trump, you are not worthy of being POTUS.
I’m afraid this country would have a whole of traitors if we paid attention to some things.
