Talking Points

From today’s TFN News Clips:

“Being ignorant is nothing to be ashamed of, but it is nothing to be particularly proud of either. A large and disruptive segment of the Texas State Board of Education is not only ignorant — a state that we all share at various times and on various subjects — it is proudly and aggressively ignorant, which goes beyond simple ignorance and ventures into the territory of malignant stupidity.”

— From an editorial in yesterday’s Denton Record-Chronicle

    Grade School Education in Cuba:

“Strong ideological content is present. Educational and cultural policy is based on Marxist ideology. A file is kept on children’s “revolutionary integration” and it accompanies the child for life.[115] A person’s university options depend on how well the person is integrated to Marxist ideology[115] as well as a permission from the “Committee for the Defense of the Revolution”.[116] The Code for Children, Youth and Family states that a parent who teaches ideas contrary to communism can be sentenced to three years in prison.[115]”

Grade School Education in Texas (How Far Should It Be Allowed to Go?):

“Strong ideological content is present. Educational and cultural policy is based on SBOE conservative ideology. A file is kept on children’s “conservative integration” and it accompanies the child for life.[115] A person’s university options depend on how well the person is integrated to SBOE conservative ideology[115] as well as a permission from the “Committee for the Defense of the SBOE Conservative Revolution”.[116] The Code for Children, Youth, and Family states that a parent who teaches ideas contrary to SBOE conservative ideology can be sentenced to three years in prison.[115]”

    Not very far—I hope.

Wait a minute. How do we know Pat Hardy is a female? Can you honestly say that you really know that? Sure, she may look like a woman. That’s easy enough to do these days. She might even have kids she claims are her own. But is she “sho nuff”?

I was embarrassed that the article writer did not know Pat Hardy is a female. The sentiment is right on. The accuracy is not 100% which gives opponents an opening. Too bad.

An excellent comment. It should be widely diffused through Texas. — Edd Doerr, President, Americans for Religious Liberty, http://www.arlinc.org

They say good things come in small packages. That concise and incisive little article is ripe for a Pultizer Prize. Someone needs to nominate it. How does one do that?
