I had a front-row seat to Rod Paige’s “Houston miracle” of privatization, charter schools, voucher advocacy, and union-baiting at Houston ISD, well before Dr. Paige became U.S. Secretary of Education. I’d like a chance to separate the reality (that all the ‘reforms,’ ‘competition,’ and ‘choice’ are not producing extraordinarily positive results) from the ideology (that free-market principles will solve all our academic problems). People opposed to public school systems should not be making policy for them.

    Ever use freelancers?

Ben: We occasionally work with academics and freelancers on research projects.
